TRIPLEX

Triplex films

Triplex flexo film refers to a type of packaging material widely used in the food industry. It consists of three layers of flexible plastic films glued together to form a durable and reliable packaging material.

The top layer of triplex flexo film is usually printed with high-quality graphics, logos or product information using a flexo printing process. The middle layer provides strength and stability to the film, while the bottom layer is usually made of heat-sealable material to allow easy closure of the packaging.

Triplex film is widely used for packaging a variety of food products including snacks, baked goods, coffee, frozen foods and others. It has excellent barrier properties, protecting the contents from moisture, oxygen and other contaminants, and is easy to handle and transport.

Triplex film is a type of multi-layer film, usually consisting of three layers of flexible plastic films. The exact materials used in the production of triplex film can vary depending on the specific application and packaging requirements, but some common materials used are as follows:

Polyethylene (PE) – a type of thermoplastic polymer widely used in the packaging industry due to its flexibility, toughness and moisture resistance.

ALU (Aluminium) – Aluminium is a metal often used as an encapsulating layer in food packaging to protect against oxygen, light and moisture. It is known for its excellent barrier properties and provides a high level of protection to the packaged product.

Polypropylene (PP) – a thermoplastic polymer known for its high strength and stiffness and its resistance to chemicals and heat.

Polyester (PET) – a strong and durable polymer often used for food packaging due to its excellent barrier properties.

Nylon (PA) – often used as a barrier layer in food packaging to protect against oxygen and other contaminants.

The specific combination of materials used in a triplex film depends on the requirements of the product being packaged and the desired properties of the film. For example, a triplex film used for snack packaging may have a PE layer for flexibility, a PET layer for barrier properties and a PP layer for strength and rigidity.

For coffee, however, a common combination is that the PET layer is usually the outer layer of the film, the ALU layer in the middle and the PE layer as the inner layer. This configuration provides an effective barrier against moisture, oxygen and light, making it ideal for packaging products that need to be protected from these elements, such as food and pharmaceuticals.
